Houston's Best Public & Airport Transportation

Houston makes it easier for both residents and visitors to get around: It was the first city in Texas to approve ride share services, and its public transportation system includes light rail and buses. Even its taxis offer low flat rates within the central business district. Other options include bike and car share, both allowing you to take control of your transportation needs.

Houston Airport Transportation Options

If you’re flying into George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), you have many options for getting to your hotel or final destination:

Shuttles: Hotels and off-site parking services operate complimentary shuttles to and from the airport. If you have reserved an Avail car, you can contact us and our shuttle will be out to pick you up shortly.

Public transportation: METRO Bus 102 serves the airport and will take you to the METRO station in downtown Houston.

Taxis and ride share: Both taxis and ride share services are available at IAH outside the baggage claim areas. If you have requested a ride share pickup, follow the “Ride App” signs to the ride share area.

Tip
Keep in mind that IAH is 22 miles from downtown Houston. Budget your transit time and fares accordingly.

Houston Light Rail and Bus Service

METRO is Houston’s public transit system, which offers both light rail and bus service. Day passes are $3 per person, per day.

Car sharing

Of course, you may also need the comfort and convenience of your own car while in town. If that’s the case, Avail has clean, safe cars from Houston locals available when you need them.
