Your car is protected by Allstate

We’re here to help you understand how Avail’s insurance policy works. This is a simplified version of what you’re covered for, when coverage applies, and how claims are handled. If you have any questions let us know.

How it works

Avail’s insurance policy will provide coverage to an eligible vehicle while it is actively listed on the Avail and available for immediate borrowing.

-If you’re using Avail at an airport, your car is covered for the entirety of your trip, from pick up to drop off, or vice versa if you’re sharing a car.
-If you’re using Avail at an apartment building, your vehicle is covered the entire time it’s listed as available on the Avail app (requires your vehicle’s keys to be in the lockbox), including when it is out on a trip.

Keep in mind - In order for Comprehensive and Collision coverage to apply to your car, vehicle owners must have Comprehensive and Collision coverage on their personal auto policy. This is a requirement to protect Avail from fraud.

What does the coverage provide to both owners and drivers?

Up to $1M in liability coverage
What is liability coverage you might ask?

  • Auto liability can help provide protection in two important ways: bodily injury and property damage coverage.
  • Bodily injury liability coverage may help protect both the owner and the driver from an accident involving a lawsuit or someone else's medical bills.
  • Property damage liability may help pay for damages caused by an accident - for instance, someone else’s car or home.

As an owner, this coverage will help protect you if your vehicle is involved in an accident that caused injury and/or property damage.

As a driver, this coverage will help protect you if you are liable in causing injury and/or property damage.

Bottom line. You’re covered.

Limited payment responsibilities

Owners are never charged for the $1 million liability insurance policy, the cost of the policy is paid by the borrower as it is factored into your car’s hourly/daily rate.

Is there a deductible?

It depends…

  • Avail drivers are responsible for a $500 deductible - if they are in a covered accident during a trip and they are determined to be at fault. However, we investigate all incidents to ensure our users are safe and treated fairly, and if you weren’t at fault for the accident, then there’s no deductible.
  • Avail for Communities car owners are responsible for the deductible if the vehicle sustains damage while it is listed on the platform and the keys are in the lockbox, but not out on a trip.
  • Avail for Airport owners will never be responsible for a deductible.

Accident-related replacement and repairs

Avail provides collision insurance coverage that helps pay to repair or replace the vehicle if it's damaged in an accident with another vehicle or object, such as a fence or a tree.

  • As an owner, this coverage will help pay to replace or repair the damages to your vehicle if it is involved in a collision while being borrowed
  • As a driver, this coverage will help pay to replace or repair the damages to the vehicle if it is involved in a collision while you are borrowing it.

Non-accident related replacement and repairs

Avail has comprehensive insurance coverage that helps pay to replace or repair the vehicle (minus the deductible for drivers) if it's stolen or damaged in an incident that's not a collision. Comprehensive typically covers damage from fire, vandalism or falling objects (like a tree or hail).

  • As an owner, this coverage will help pay to replace or repair the damages to your vehicle if it is involved in a comprehensive loss while being borrowed.
  • As a driver, this coverage will help pay to replace or repair the damages to the vehicle if it is involved in a comprehensive loss while you are borrowing it.

No-Fault Insurance or Personal Injury Protection (PIP)

Avail provides no-fault insurance is a type of car insurance coverage that helps pay for the driver and passengers' medical bills if injured in a car accident, regardless of who caused the accident. No-fault insurance is also called personal injury protection, or PIP insurance.

This coverage does not apply to vehicle owners, only drivers and passengers if they are injured in a car accident. Personal Injury Protection is not available in all states. See below for a complete list of states that require or offer no-fault insurance.

Who can file a claim?

A driver, owner, or Avail representative can file a claim. Once a claim is filed, Allstate may need to work with both the driver and owner to determine loss facts and next steps. Avail provides each borrower in-car resources to use to for any issue.

How will I get paid for a claim?

All claims payments will come from Allstate. After filing, an Allstate claims adjuster will provide you regular updates about your claim after filing and expected pay out timing.
